Five-Ingredient Mango Lassi
Many people have heard of or have tried a mango lassi, but did you know there are actually many other flavors? Lassis are an Indian drink made with yogurt, water, sweetener, and spices. They are typically savory, but there are many variations, including the mango lassi! The first time I ever had a mango lassi, I fell in love. It was sweet and creamy, with a hint of spice, and with a texture somewhere in between a smoothie and a milkshake.
Recently, I stopped at Peacefood Cafe, an all vegan restaurant and bakery, and saw that they had mango lassis on the menu. It tasted so delicious, and I was thrilled because it can be hard to find a vegan version of the drink, as the traditional drink is yogurt-based. That is when I decided to come up with my own version of the irresistible drink! This recipe contains only 5-ingredients, is naturally sweetened, refreshing, and contains cardamom, which has an overwhelming amount of health benefits.
INGREDIENTS (Yields two servings)
- 2 Cups of frozen mango (The frozen mango provides a thick, creamy texture, so room-temperature mango will produce a different outcome)
- 2/3 Cup + 2 Tbsp. of non-dairy vanilla or plain flavored yogurt (I used So Delicious coconut yogurt)
- 1 Tsp. fresh lime juice
- 2/3 Cup of non-dairy milk
- Scant 1/4 Tsp. of cardamom
Optional: 1/2 Tsp. agave syrup (or another vegan sweetener)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Blend all ingredients together in a food processor or blender.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
