30 Minute Sprint Interval Workout
Lately, I have been trying to incorporate more cardio into my workout routine. However, it can easily get boring to aimlessly run around on the treadmill. I always find that my workouts are most successful when I listen to an awesome playlist and follow a specific routine. I came up with this sprint interval workout in order to add variety to my exercise session and to challenge myself. The speeds and inclines that I include in this workout are what I set my treadmill to when I do this exercise, however, it is ultimately up to you what speeds and inclines are hard for you! If you do this workout, you are bound to get very sweaty, and feel accomplished afterward!
I start by setting the incline on my treadmill to three, to mimic the terrain of the outdoors.
Start with a five-minute warm up, running at 5.5-6.5 speed. For me personally, I typically run around six speed to help get my muscles moving. After the five minute warm up, repeat this circuit ten times:
30-second sprint on speed 8
30-second fast run on speed 7
30-second run on speed 6.5
30-second walking rest on speed 3
After repeating this circuit 10 times, cool down by doing an incline walk at speed 2.5-3 with an incline of about 10 for five minutes.
You are done! Be sure to do some light stretching afterward, as it is a beneficial way to cool down.
